9-30-11 Richard Serra Textures

I really enjoy Richard Serra's work because he combines simple architeture and being abstract in his pieces. I think that its really intersting when you can interact and really think about an artist's work and what they were thinking of when they were creating it. Richard uses his space very well and creates huge mazes. Some of his work looked like mazes i thought. I like to think that his work and mine are similar in the fact that they are abstract. Our works are simple yet interesting...at least Id like to think my art is interesting. :)

9-23-11 Edward Ruschas

When I looked at Edwards work, I noticed that he has simple pieces. He mostly uses words and color to represent his works. Proximity and perspective also play a role in his pieces, like his Fox piece. Edward puts his points of interest in the center of his paintings which I think make them look boring. He adds nice and clean lines to look at in his works along with plenty of space for his words. Compared to the work that I do, I think that Edward's work is too simple and not detailed enough. Hes better at clean lines but I prefer more detail and variety.

9-16-11 Value and Edgar Degas

My work compares to edgars in the way that it is much simpilar. In edgar's work, he creates a harmoney of colors and values. You can also see a little crosshatching in his pieces too. My drawings are not as expressive as his are. I noticed that he likes to draw and paint ballerinas and female figures which is somethig we both have in common. I also like to draw feminine figures.

9-9-11 Albrecht Durer and Cross Hatching

My drawing connects to Albrecht's by showing a little more value and cross hatching on the shadows of the bananas. I think he shows more dramatic value in his pieces. He works with the space, value, texture and overall quality of his pictures. The emotions are clearly expressed in his works.

Honore Daumier

Honore Daumier has some very interesting facial expressions to his figures. I think he puts alot of illistrative and overexaggerated expressions on the people that he draws. Some of his pieces look more cartoonish.
The way I draw people is completely different from the way Daumier draws his. I still need to work on realism in my art while Daumier already has good realism. He has more detail in his work. He also knows how to make good use of space in his paintings.
