Beauty

Non-objective drawing. Beauty

Non-objective drawing. Repulsion

To me beauty is considered to be something genuine and special about a person or thing. It brings people comfort to the mind and heart. I feel like beauty is considered to be fake or artificial in todays world and people focus too much on the outside rather than the inside. When I veiwed The drawing center's website I really liked Owen Harvery's work because I enjoy his veiws of graphs. I thought they were simple pictures but he was able to send a message through them as well. I find that the way he displays his art work is beautiful because he shows that not everything has to be complex.
Repulsion to me is something that uneases people or is a show of lies. When I think of repulsion I think of people who are selfish and ungenuine. People who think that they need to act or be different than who they are. It could be described as deceitful. Unmannerly people or failure to show common courtsey is also repulsive. When I looked at Kristofer Hultenberg's peices I didnt value them because I thought they unexciting and I felt like he did not put alot of thought in his works. I also didnt like his choice of colors because they were dull for my taste. His work made me think of repulsion. His work made me feel alone.
